Vacation Bible School was August 5th, 7th, and 9th, 2024. The theme was Outback Rock: Where kids venture into solid faith. Rev. Dr. Ethelyn Taylor started the week off with a wonderful lesson about Joseph and his coat of many colors. Rev. Dr. Bernard Downing and Terrine Datts presented great lessons about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.
Joan Clerk and Terrine Datts had all of us singing and moving to inspiring contemporary religious songs. Jayminn DeShields and David Powell challenged us with co-operative as well as competitive games and activities. Helen Hampton and Myra Houston encouraged the children to express their creativity through craft activities about Joseph as well as making animals native to Australia.
The culminating activity was our Cook-Out on Sunday, August 11th.
A big thank you to all those that helped with VBS or the Cook-Out.
The Christian Education Ministry sponsored a trip to the Museum of African American History and Culture on Saturday, August 5th, 2023. It was the culminating event for our Vacation Bible School. Both children and adults had the opportunity to learn about our heritage, interact with the exhibits, socialize with others, shop, and enjoy a delicious meal at Golden Corral on the way home.
Our Vacation Bible School theme for 2023 was “Twists & Turns, Following Jesus Changes the Game.”
VBS was held on July 31, August 2nd and 4th, 2023.
The children enjoyed dancing and singing to lively music, Bible lessons about Jesus, challenging games, chess lessons, creative crafts, and yummy dinners. A wonderful time was had by all. A big “thank you” to all the teachers and helpers.
