Harvest Party 2023

On October 31st, 2023, we had our first indoor Harvest Party in four years. Thanks to all those who donated candy, or helped with security, the games, the haunted house, the costume contest, or in the kitchen. Pastor J. Andrew McCoy and his members turned out to enjoy the fun with Rev. B. Downing and the OLPC family. A great time was had by the adults and children alike.

Pick Your Decade!

On October 29th, 2023, members, families, and friends helped us honor 7 members/friends with fall milestone birthdays. Tamiya, Jackie, Terrine, Cathy O., and Adelaide were celebrated. Trish and Sonia could not attend.

We had yummy food and a cake that was gorgeous as well as delicious. Special thanks to Theresa for the Motown tunes, and Myra for hosting Decade Jeopardy. It is a blessing to be able to show folks how much they are loved. May the birthday ladies have many more happy and healthy years ahead of them.

2023 Wellness Fair

The Community Partnership With A Purpose (CPWP) sponsored a Wellness Fair on 9/2/23, at Oxford Presbyterian. God blessed us with a sunny, breezy, beautiful day in the neighborhood.

There were book bag, gift card, and reading book give-aways, along with health screenings, health information, exercise, dance, arts & crafts, face painting, balloon art, free food and snacks,
as well as a special visit from the Philly Phanatic, and marvelous music from the DJ. A great time was had by all who attended. A big thank you hug to all those who donated their time, talents, or treasures to help make this event a success.

Museum of African American History & Culture Trip

The Christian Education Ministry sponsored a trip to the Museum of African American History and Culture on Saturday, August 5th, 2023. It was the culminating event for our Vacation Bible School. Both children and adults had the opportunity to learn about our heritage, interact with the exhibits, socialize with others, shop, and enjoy a delicious meal at Golden Corral on the way home.

Vacation Bible School 2023

Our Vacation Bible School theme for 2023 was “Twists & Turns, Following Jesus Changes the Game.”

VBS was held on July 31, August 2nd and 4th, 2023.

The children enjoyed dancing and singing to lively music, Bible lessons about Jesus, challenging games, chess lessons, creative crafts, and yummy dinners. A wonderful time was had by all. A big “thank you” to all the teachers and helpers.
